"Ed MacDonough was the primary designer and developer for two Reliant Energy projects using Dialogue Exstream, where Ed demonstrated his in-depth Exstream skills and his extensive document design and application experience. In one project, Ed worked with the third-party print-vendor to design the generation of the print-ready AFP files to include the necessary non-print indices for the print-vendor to manage the printing and intelligent inserting of specific bill inserts for each document. Ed generated eight different print streams which needed different handling by the print-vendor, including methods to split files into a series of print-ready files to ensure the file transfer and the print-vendor’s processes could handle the large file sizes. In addition, Ed designed and developed a reporting application using output from the Dialogue document generation application to report pages and images and other information for each print stream to ensure effective controls and reconciliation with the print-vendor’s reporting. The project was delivered on-time with no problems, and the reconciliation and controls have been flawless. Ed trained and transitioned the support to the Production Support team with complete ability of the team to support the application after implementation. During the second project, Ed assisted with the implementation of the Exstream DDA module and PDF import module in order to generate document which were composed of a cover letter and additional pages with specific PDF images from an external system. The implementations had several issues which Ed was able to effectively work with Exstream technical support on our behalf and find solutions or alternatives. The application was implemented on-time with no problems. Ed also trained the team in the new modules and transitioned the support to the team in a way that the team has been able to extend the application and modify it in many ways since. In summary, Ed has been an effective designer, developer, and trainer, who has implemented two very successful projects for Reliant Energy."
